Responsibilities
Tasks
Design and develop power equipment and systems
Install equipment
Interpret blueprints or other instructions to plan methods or sequences of operation
Maintain equipment
Read blueprints or other instructions to determine work requirements
Service equipment
Supervise the building and testing of prototypes
Test power equipment and systems
Assist in design, development and testing
Assist in preparing estimates, schedules, specifications and reports
Write specifications
Assist in inspecting, testing and adjusting electronic components
Calibrate electronic equipment and instruments
Conduct safety training programs
Assist in building and testing prototypes to specifications
Collect and compile operational or experimental data
Carry out applied research in fields of electrical and electronic engineering and physics
Conduct or supervise the installation, commissioning, and operation of electrical and electronic equipment and systems
Set up and operate specialized and standard test equipment to diagnose, test and analyze the performance of electrical and electronic components, assemblies and systems
Complete work orders, test and maintenance reports

Job Duties
• Organize and schedule technicians for regular maintenance check ups;
• Manage and organize technicians in the main Calgary yard/shop;
• Testing power equipment and systems, industrial process control systems;
• Supervising building and testing of electrical equipment according to general instructions and established standards;
• Supervise installation, commissioning and operation of electrical and electronic equipment and systems;
• Oversee setup and operation of specialized equipment;
• Diagnose, test, and analyze performance of electrical and electronic components, assemblies, and systems;
• Write specifications, schedules, and technical reports;
• Troubleshooting and inspection of equipment to detect faults and malfunctions, determine the extent of repair required, and adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts;
• test repaired equipment to ensure that the equipment is operating safely, as designed, and withing proper specifications.
