Job Duties: Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Load and unload goods. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes and other equipment. Perform brake adjustments. Perform preventive maintenance. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Should show professionalism in customer service.
Job Requirements: Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement. Valid passport,
Criminal record check, Driver's validity licence check, Driving record check (abstract), Valid driver's licence, Drive manual transmission vehicle, Willing to travel cross-border, Willing to travel for extended periods, Willing to travel overnight. Documentation knowledge; Accident or incident reports, Bill of lading, Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Trans-border documentation, Trip reports. Trucking Equipment; Flatbed, Tractor-trailer, Citizens band (CB) radio, Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment, Trip recorder (on-board computer). Transportation/travel experience an asset not required; International, Local, Long-haul, National, Provincial/territorial, Regional, Short-haul. The ideal candidate shows; Attention to Detail, Flexibility, Good Judgement, Patience, Reliability, is Organized, is Hardworking and is a Team Player. Must be able to handle up to 50lbs. Is okay with repetitive tasks and sitting for extended periods of time.
