Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: At heights. Dusty. Noisy. Work setting: Residential. Various locations. Tasks: Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints. Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound using trowel and broad knife. Measure, cut, fit and install drywall sheets. Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists. Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry. Tape over joints using taping machine and embed tape in compound. Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages. Erect and install scaffolding, falsework and other working platforms. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling. Hand-eye co-ordination. Handling heavy loads. Manual dexterity. Physically demanding. Repetitive tasks. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Personal suitability: Team player. Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years. Support for newcomers and refugees: Assists with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: housing, transportation, storage, childcare, winter clothing, etc.). Supports social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: facilitating access to community resources, language training, skills training, etc.). Recruits newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster (for example: Ukraine, Afghanistan, etc.) . Supports newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition. Offers mentorship programs that pair newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees . Support for youths: Offers on-the-job training tailored to youth. Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for youth. Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth. Support for Veterans: Recruits Veterans and other candidates with military experience through targeted hiring initiatives (for example: job fairs, outreach programs etc.) . Support for Indigenous people: Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses and organizations .
