The Role
Reporting to the general manager, you will be responsible for all underground mine operational activities including the management of production, construction, development, freeze drilling and diamond drilling.
In this role, you will:
-Ensure all activities are carried out in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, in compliance with all provincial and federal regulations and in accordance with Camecos policies and guidelines
-In consultation with the general manager establish production, development and improvement objectives and strategies for the operation to support the achievement of Camecos objectives
-Ensuring the mine operation is properly resourced including Cameco workers, mine contractors and equipment
-Provide leadership to the mine operations group, seeking ways to achieve operational excellence in Camecos four pillars of success (A safe, healthy, and rewarding workplace, A clean environment, Supportive communities and Outstanding financial performance)
-Manage and be accountable for mine operational costs
-Work closely with Camecos support groups and act as project sponsor for mine operational projects.
Required:
-Bachelors degree in mine engineering, or related field
-Eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
-A minimum of ten years of experience in progressively more senior, operational leadership roles
-Experience in underground mine operations, both technical and operational
-Strong communication, leadership and relationship building skills
-Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
