The Division of Midwifery at Vancouver Coastal Health-Richmond, invites interested midwives to apply for 2 full time medical staff privileges. Members of the Division of Midwifery work in community based clinics and provide midwifery services to women and their families who reside in the city of Richmond and surrounding designated catchment communities. The Division of Midwifery has a matrixed structure as part of the Regional Department of Midwifery and the Richmond Hospital Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The Birth Centre at the Richmond Hospital is an integrated multidisciplinary team, focused on providing safe, patient- centered care while maintaining a high vaginal birth rate.

Preference will be given to applicants intending to work full-time in order to help meet the high demand for midwifery care in Richmond.

The Division of Midwifery is committed to increasing the presence of Midwifery in Richmond surrounding communities and welcome new proactive members. We encourage workforce diversity and encourage midwives from underrepresented groups to apply and self-identify.

As a Midwife with Vancouver Coastal Health, you will:

  • Proven clinical excellence and experience in the provision of midwifery and maternity care;
  • Professional or leadership experience;
  • Commitment to the hospital(s) and the community;
  • Ability to carry a full midwifery case load*
  • Teaching experience;
  • An interest in providing midwifery care in a language other than English ;
  • Demonstrated commitment to positive collegial relationships, furthering the profession of midwifery and engaging in interprofessional collaboration.
Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

  • Obstetric Experience
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Fetal Health Surveillance (FHS)
  • Midwives Emergency Skills Program (MESP)
  • CMBC and MABC (in good standing)
  • Be registered, or eligible for full registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives;
  • Have a minimum of one year of experience as a registered midwife;
  • Plan to join an established midwifery practice in Richmond or South Delta to provide service to our catchment area
