Job Summary:

Martinrea Canada, a global leader in advanced manufacturing solutions, is seeking a detail-oriented Map Vision Engineer to drive quality excellence across its operations.

The ideal candidate will take a hands-on approach to managing quality systems, ensuring compliance with TS/IATF 16949 standards, and leveraging cutting-edge tools such as the Map Vision system to maintain the highest levels of product accuracy and reliability. This role requires expertise in dimensional analysis, process validation, and root-cause problem-solving, as well as strong leadership skills to guide the quality team effectively.

As part of Martinrea Canada's commitment to delivering world-class manufacturing solutions, the Map Vision Engineer will play a critical role in improving throughout, reducing operational expenses, and ensuring customer satisfaction through rigorous quality management and continuous improvement initiatives.

Duties and responsibilities may include some or all of the following:

• Identifying and addressing quality-related problems promptly to minimize production interruptions.
• Coordinating investigations into quality issues and completing customer-specific corrective action requirements.
• Verifying the implementation of solutions to ensure effectiveness.
• Analyzing dimensional data from Map Vision and other measurement systems to ensure products meet quality standards.
• Performing correlation analysis between Map Vision and Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) systems to maintain measurement accuracy.
• Programming tolerance changes and troubleshooting Map Vision system issues.
• Leading dimensional meetings and conducting part trials for engineering changes, tool moves, and new product launches.
• Representing customer needs in internal quality functions to ensure alignment with customer requirements.
• Liaising directly with customers to provide support and address quality concerns, including on-site visits at least once per month.
• Participating in the development of Process Flow Charts, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
• Overseeing the TS/IATF 16949 quality management system and ensuring compliance through regular audits and monitoring adherence to procedures.
• Contributing to ongoing improvements in throughput, inventory management, and operational expenses.
• Recommending and implementing changes to tooling or processes to enhance product dimensions and manufacturing outcomes.
• Investigating customer complaints and effectively managing containment, generating 1x1 documentation, and writing work instructions.
• Reviewing and ensuring all Customer Specific Requirements (CSR) are met.
• Monitoring and meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to quality and production efficiency.
• Making critical decisions, such as stopping production when quality concerns arise.
• Delegating tasks within the department and managing employee performance, including conducting appraisals and addressing disciplinary issues.
• Training employees on operating and analyzing the Map Vision system and ensuring proficiency in using quality tools and following established standards.
• Validating product dimensions using various measurement tools, including Verniers, micrometers, height gauges, and profile projectors.
• Conducting product validation after rework processes to confirm conformity with customer engineering specifications.
• Managing the quality safe launch team to ensure the effective transition from incoming materials to finished goods.
• Performing root-cause analysis (5W’s/Fishbone) on defective parts using gauge data and weld parameters.
• Providing support for PPAP submissions and ensuring timely completion.
• Creating and maintaining inspection sheets to meet customer requirements.
• Initiating and participating in NCR problem-solving teams and overseeing corrective action plans.
• Generating detailed Quality Alerts to keep the quality team informed of potential defects in the finished product.
• Collecting and analyzing Gauge SPC data and using control charts to track and improve daily production progress.
• Conducting First/Last off inspections and approving samples for production runs using variable and attribute gauging.
• Maintaining SPC charts and initiating corrective actions when measurements fall outside the capability range.
• Preparing detailed reports and documentation related to quality audits, corrective actions, and KPI tracking.
• Ensuring compliance with company policies, including health and safety regulations, and enforcing the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in quality roles within a manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on operational excellence and quality assurance.
• Expertise in Map Vision systems, including performing correlation analysis, programming tolerance changes, troubleshooting system issues, and analyzing dimensional data.
• Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpretation of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for ensuring product accuracy and compliance.
• Certification in International Automotive Task Force (IATF) 16949 internal auditing, with experience in quality system management and compliance.
• A Bachelor's degree in disciplines like Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another related technical field.
• Hands-on experience using precision measuring tools, such as Verniers, micrometers, height gauges, and profile projectors, to validate product dimensions.
• Proficiency in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and other core quality tools to support product development and process improvement.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other quality-related software tools for data analysis, reporting, and documentation.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and adherence to workplace safety protocols, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Proven ability to lead and train teams, ensuring proficiency in quality control systems like Map Vision while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Strong time-management, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
• Willingness to travel monthly to liaise with customers, address quality concerns, and ensure alignment with client requirements.
• Flexibility to work in a dynamic environment (60% office, 40% plant floor) and availability for overtime as required.
