Position: Welder/Maintenance Technician

Duties:
• Executing welding tasks using a variety of techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding, to repair, fabricate, and modify metal components of freight and forwarding equipment.
• Conducting routine inspections and maintenance of welding equipment to ensure proper functionality, safety compliance, and longevity.
• Identifying and addressing structural defects, cracks, or damage in transportation equipment by applying appropriate welding procedures and techniques.
• Interpreting and following engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately execute welding tasks and meet project requirements.
• Maintaining high-quality welding standards by adhering to industry best practices, safety regulations, and quality control measures.
• Adhering to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to minimize workplace hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
• Maintaining accurate records of welding activities, repairs performed, materials used, and equipment maintenance schedules as per company and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborating effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to prioritize tasks, troubleshoot issues, and achieve project goals.
• Stay updated on industry trends, new welding technologies, and safety regulations through training and professional development opportunities.
• Following environmentally sustainable practices and regulations while performing welding operations to minimize ecological impact
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years of work experience in the welding trade required
• Industry courses in welding required
• Vocational training or certification in welding from a recognized institution.
• Proven experience as a welder, preferably in the transportation, logistics, or manufacturing sector.
• Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques with a focus on structural welding and fabrication.
• Ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications accurately.
• Hold valid safety certifications such as Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members, supervisors, and clients effectively.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to diagnose welding defects, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials, working in confined spaces, and standing for extended periods.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada and possess any additional certifications or licenses required by provincial regulations
