Duties:
• Identifying, documenting, and investigating potential environmental and safety problems;
• Ensuring that staff adhere to the health, safety, and environmental procedures of the plant;
• Resolving work problems, providing technical advice and recommending measures to improve productivity and product quality;
• Reviewing, interpreting and evaluating process performance data and implementing any changes to maintain optimum performance of all process areas;
• Overseeing daily work permitting for assigned areas;
• Supervising, coordinating and scheduling daily activities of workers for assigned areas;
• Preparing production and other reports to deliver and enforce daily/weekly/monthly department objectives;
• Providing information for maintenance plans to ensure that maintenance and production objectives are met;
• Co-ordinating work activities with other departments;
• Training staff/workers in job duties, safety procedures, and company policies;
• Requisitioning/ ordering materials, equipment, and supplies;
• Overseeing the safety of operations;
• Ensuring the smooth operation of reactors, the Steam system, distillation column and other equipment; and
• Acting as a Member of the Emergency Response Team.
Requirements:
• Completion of secondary school is required
• Post-secondary education in chemical processing or sciences is required
• 5+ years of experience as a senior operator is required
• Several years of experience in the same company or plant is preferred
• Operating Engineer Third Class certification or higher is required
