Duties:
• Preparing food according to instructions that include washing and cutting
• Delivering meals in a timely manner
• Accommodating clients with special dietary needs
• Verifying that all foods meet requirements for quality and quantity
• Re-heating prepared foods
• Ensuring sanitary cooking conditions and appropriate safe food handling
• Monitoring kitchen equipment
• Cleaning the kitchen, which can include dishwashing and cleaning equipment and surfaces
• Maintaining and following all Ontario Camps Association standards and all Health and Safety Standards and local by-laws
• Providing continuous support and guidance to the food service team
• Providing continuous feedback on improvement initiatives
• Setting a good example for campers and others regarding cleanliness, punctuality, sharing in clean up chores, sportsmanship
• Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
• 3+ years of previous food service experience
• Experience with food service for large groups
• Experience working at a children’s summer camp is strongly preferred
• Completion of secondary school
• Completion of college or other program in cooking or food safety
• Strong organizational skills
• Successful completion of a criminal background check
• Good character, integrity, adaptability, enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control
The Cooks live on site at Camp Winnebagoe. Successful candidates are expected to agree to a Code of Conduct and must complete a Health Information form. All staff are expected to support and uphold the philosophy and spirit of Camp Winnebagoe.
