Duties:
• Contribute to building and implementing a best-in-class design system and component library, and create documentation outlining usage guidelines and best practices
• Craft compelling, WCAG compliant design outlook with clear design rationales that align with Kobo’s branding, business goals, and design system, ensuring consistency across all platforms, such as mobile, responsive web. And eReader
• Partner closely with designers, product managers, engineers and researchers to define problems and identify strategic opportunities for enhancing existing features and developing new ones across responsive web, apps, and eReader platforms
• Develop conceptual models, mockups, and prototypes using a variety of design techniques and technologies to effectively communicate, test, and refine design ideas, while working closely with developers to ensure high-quality implementation
• Conduct user interviews and usability testing to understand user behaviours, needs, and pain points, integrating these customer-centric insights into product design decisions
• Lead cross-functional workshops to tackle problems from technological, business, and user perspectives, and to build a consensus on experience architecture, ensuring the delivery of top-tier experiences and products for all people and all devices
• Translating business requirements, end user needs and input from cross-functional Business units into differentiated design solutions
• Participate in product design discovery and definition initiatives, and lead design vision of product roadmap
• Establish guidelines, standards and optimal design practices
• Maintain the appearance of websites by applying content standards
• Designing visual imagery for websites and ensuring that it is consistent with the organization image
• Integrate features and functionalities into Web sites
• Create and optimize content for the Web site using a variety of graphics, database, animation and other software
• Test and improve the design of a Web site
• May lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to develop Web site graphics, content, capacity and interactivity

Requirements:
• A bachelor’s degree in Cognitive System or related field is required
• 2+ years of professional design experience
• Experience in using a research platform like usertesting.com to discover customer problems through moderated and unmoderated generative interviews and usability testingAdvanced knowledge of creating adaptive components in Figma for the purpose of use in web and mobile applications.
• Experience in contributing to a design system
• Familiarity with testing designs with users who identify with having accessibility needs in order to access information on digital platforms
• Experience in creating digital solutions for users on dedicated digital platforms for reading books
• Experience in identifying and solving for user needs related to interaction with and consumption of non-fiction digital content.
