Job Description: Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Our CPG (GO & UP) team is looking for a Director, Commercial Management – Signaling and Communications. In an exciting time of change and transformation in CPG, this role is critical in shifting the organization to embrace collaborative and progressive contracting models. You will provide strategic direction and management of commercial decision-making for the assigned business unit, coordinate commercial leadership across the corporation and provide strategic and commercial advice to support the implementation of, and adherence to these contract models.
Duties:
• Lead the development and implementation of Commercial Management strategies
• Manage and oversee the implementation and ongoing administration of new and existing contracts required to support Commercial and Delivery teams
• Provide strategic direction and management of commercial decision-making, coordinate commercial leadership, and provide strategic and commercial advice to the VP Commercial Management, Senior Legal Counsel, Senior Management Team (SMT), and other Metrolinx leaders, as appropriate, to support the implementation of, and adherence to, Commercial Management plans
• Drive to achieve best value for money, meeting strategic objectives in a high profile, rapidly evolving and competitive environment while improving the customer experience and upholding Metrolinx’s behaviors and values
• Along with the VP and EVP Commercial Management, is responsible for the financial health of the organization and stewardship of financial and other resources within the business unit; oversees all contract activities and contracts for value for money
• Effectively deals with significant commercial issues, including complex engineering and operational challenges to ensure the completion of key projects and strategies; facilitate collaboration and cooperation between stakeholders and external vendors to ensure project delivery and issues resolution
Requirements:
• Completion of a University degree in Business Administration or related discipline is required
• Completion of a Masters in Business Administration or a related discipline is preferred
• Minimum 10 years of experience in progressively responsible roles related to commercial contract and budget management in delivering multi-million-dollar rail projects (Rail Systems, System Integration, Interface, Signaling)
• Experience in delivering ETCS, with a strong understanding of its principles
• Strong knowledge and experience in development of commercial strategies for collaborative contracting models
• Experience in executing rail projects, overseeing all phases including design and construction, managing project quality standard and timeliness
• Exceptional project management, project controls and project risk management skills to execute time sensitive deliverables
