Job Description:
As a Carpenter Helper, you will be an integral part of our company and assist skilled tradespersons and perform labouring activities at our construction sites in Nova Scotia. The ideal candidate will assist experienced carpenters in various construction projects, including residential and commercial builds. This role is essential for ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and to high standards of quality. The Carpenter Helper will gain hands-on experience in multiple aspects of carpentry and construction, making it an excellent opportunity for those looking to advance their skills in the field.
Job Duties:
• Assist carpenters in constrcution activities, such as checking the quantity of wood, debugging tools such as electric saws and electric drills, complete simple processing operations, assist in installation, etc.
• Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades required at construction sites.
• Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas.
• Mix, pour and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt.
• Assist heavy equipment operators to secure special attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and provide assistance in other activities.
• Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance work.
• Assist machine operators, assemblers and other workers.
• Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed.
Qualifications:
• Minimum secondary school completion or graduation certificate.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of construction work experience.
• Ability to assist carpenter with the knowledge and skills of carpentry. Certified person preferred.
• English is required, good verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Flexibility and adaptability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
• Extensive experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
