Job duties:
As Head Chef, you will be responsible for the overall management and operation of the kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation. You will lead, motivate, and develop a team of kitchen staff, while also playing a key role in menu development, recipe creation, and inventory management ensuring efficient workflow, maintaining food quality, and managing costs effectively. You will work closely with the restaurant management team to achieve operational goals and ensure customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to safety and hygiene standards.
• Manage kitchen staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling. Lead and mentor a team of cooks, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to safety and hygiene standards.
• Develop and implement new menu items and recipes, reflecting seasonal ingredients and culinary trends, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Manage inventory, ordering supplies, and controlling food costs.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
• Collaborate with the restaurant management team to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
• Ensure all food preparation and cooking adheres to the highest quality and safety standards.
Skills requirements (includes education and work experience):
• At least three years of proven experience as a Head Chef (Chef de Cuisine) in a high-volume restaurant environment.
• Post-secondary degree in culinary arts or culinary management.
• Strong culinary skills and knowledge of various cuisines.
• Excellent leadership, management, and communication skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire a team.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Experience with menu planning, recipe development, and inventory management.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
• A passion for cooking and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
• Fluent in English.
• Authorized to work in Canada for at least 24 months.
